For more than 40 years, Shorashim has been providing meaningful experiences in Israel and creating connections between Jews in Israel and around the world. Founded by Anne Lanski, as a high school Israel experience, Shorashim has grown to include Birthright Israel experiences, young adult trips, and a variety of special-interest, tailor-made programs.
Anne founded Shorashim, and it continues today, with the basic premise that experiences in Israel are made more meaningful through personal relationships. Every Shorashim experience starts with the relationship with Israeli peers. For the past nearly four decades Shorashim has been recognized as a pioneer in mifgash programs, setting the standard for leading programs in which participants relate to Israeli peers.
Shorashim's Board of Directors is composed of dedicated individuals who want to grow the mission of Shorashim. Our Directors guide our organization and support the staff to help grow the work Shorashim is doing within the United States and Israel.
At Shorashim, we are committed to advancing an outstanding legacy as we create and customize innovative programs that are rooted in the focus on authentic encounters with Israelis, building relationships with the people of Israel, and facilitating connections to Israel through a diversity of narratives, lenses, and perspectives.
